There are many places of interest which are good from a photographers point of view within Munich. Although a large city Munich has a village type feel about it, it has everything on offer that a big city should have, and more besides but there is a unique sort of friendliness about it. Munich itself if well kept and surprisingly quite a green city, there are many parks to see, as well as the traditional German squares. Most of the places of interest can easily be accessed by Munich’s super modern transport system.

From a photographers point of view there are a few places which would be worth a visit. Neuschwantein Castle is one of them. Building work on this castle started in 1868, this castle is almost certainly one of the most famous castles in the world. The castle itself has a feeling of grandeur and it stands out looking down on the valleys below.

If you like water sports like windsurfing, boating and swimming then Lake Starnberg is a good place to visit as well as photograph. Looking across the lake you can pick out the mountains on the skyline, and magnificent parks border the lake.

The new town hall is called Rathaus, work was stated on this great building in 1867, but it took over 40 years to complete, and has a clearly visible place on the Munich skyline. This is a place that must be visited if you are in Munich, the clock on the building displays a 15 minute show at 11am every day.

Olympiaturm or the Olympic tower as it is better known was built along with the rest of the Olympic park for the games of 1973, and to this day still holds its place as Germany’s tallest television tower. If you like wining and dining then this is a great place to visit as the view from the restaurant which is situated at the top of the tower is breathtaking, and to make sure you aren’t just sat looking at the same spot all night, the restaurant has the added bonus of being a revolving restaurant.

Marienplatz is one of the most appealing and famous parts of Munich, it is the centre piece for not only the Christmas market (which is visited by tourists from all over the world), but is also the main attraction for the Fasching celebrations and the Founding Festival.

There are many other attractions to see which include Galleries, Churches and Museums, if you enjoy walking then there are plenty of good walks through the outskirts of Munich.

There are many Munich Hotel (Hotel in München) to consider before booking a break here and a good way of getting the best out of a hotel is to visit the reviews of previous tourists which can be found online. Munich hotels (München Hotels) are usually contemporary and modern, but make sure that you do your homework as there are some budget hotels in there which are used by revellers at Oktoberfest.
